Some Australian cricket fans misunderstand Smith and Payne
former batsman muhammad keef described mendia’s blockbuster series win on Gabba as “Greatest Test away win ever“- but you can forgive the unhappy Australian cricket fans. After all, flip the title upside down and it would be read as one of the “worst Test home defeats ever”.
But some Australian cricket fans on Twitter looking for a scapegoat should check out the pen photos first.
Their mistakes were exposed when a certain Tim Payne, rather than the real Australian cricket captain, started to deal with the flak.
His cry for help was met with some apology from Twitter users:
Apologizing to our friends on behalf of all of us. Sometimes, we can be so keen to criticize that we don’t check the people we criticize.

Really sorry, we were too emotional to notice the “y” and “i”.@tdpaine36 Too bad dude I’m sure you sit there and laugh and see @timpayne_1 controlled.
Still, the Australians have a great game. Always enjoy watching you guys on the pitch.

The (no) real Tim Paine got sympathy from another Twitter user – Steve Smith (no, not that one) who has been suffering from the same problem:
This led to fears among other Twitter users with similar names to the Australian cricketer:
I feel like I’m on the verge of that.

One of the greatest test series
If you’ve been self-isolating without internet this week, let’s explain the story behind the backlash (painful spoiler alert for Australian fans).
The real Tim Paine must have been happily rubbing his hands after being beaten in the first Test of the Gavaskar-Border trophy on a paltry 36 in the second inning.
However, the Indian side – plagued by injuries and captain Virat Kohli at home for his baby – fought back in stunning fashion.
The Blues won by eight wickets in the second Test before securing a seemingly unlikely draw 334-5 in the third.

For the decisive test, India had to call up two freshmen, including washington sanda, who has been helping the team by bowling online. He scored 62 points in the first inning and took a (real) Steve Smith wicket.
Set a record of 328 chasing balls in the second game of Gabba, everyone is expecting another defender from India to keep the trophy.
Instead, the Blues tied the aggregate score with three wickets to cause Australia’s first defeat at the Gabba Stadium since 1988 – one of which an unprecedented great victory.
You can bet that Indian heroes like Sundar, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant will only get plaudits on their social media channels.
