Marjorie Taylor Greene thinks U.S. taxes shouldn’t be ‘for… Guam’
Republican politician Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke on the second day (February 27) of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida.
in her addressshe added the U.S. territory of Guam to a list of foreign countries she did not consider worthy of U.S. taxation.
“We believe our hard-earned taxes should go to the U.S. only. Not for what? China, Russia, the Middle East, Guam, wherever,” Green said.
Guam was ceded to the United States by Spain in 1899, and the Guams are U.S. citizens.
Twitter reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Guam blunder
Twitter stepped in quickly, with comments ranging from instructive to satirical.
For example, user Anne Reed wrote factually: “Except Guam is part of America, Marjorie”.
Meanwhile, another user wrote that Green thinks Guam is a foreign country is the “funniest” thing they’ve heard so far this year.
