This week, Ryder Cup champion Bryson DeChambeau will advance to the second round of the Long Drive World Championship. The 2020 US Open champion is one of the longest riders on the tour, but not the longest once. So, what’s the longest golf tee time ever?
Bryson DeChambeau advances to the second round of the Long Drive World Championships?
This week, PGA Tour golfer Bryson DeChambeau will compete in the PAL World Championships in Mesquite, Nevada.
The 2021 Team USA Ryder Cup winner is known to be one of golf’s biggest drivers.
On Tuesday, September 28, Bryson was tied for second in the group with an average distance of 406.2 yards at the Long Distance World Championships.
DeChambeau had 412, 408, 407, 403 and 401 yards and advanced to the second round on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

What is the longest drive in golf history?
The longest drive in golf history belongs to Carl Cooper, who made a memorable drive at the 1992 Texas Open.
Standing on the 456-yard par 4, the 31-year-old recorded a 787-yard drive after some luck on the tarmac.
His shot landed on a sloping concrete pavement. It rushed across the green and several other holes before landing behind the 12th green.
It was so far from the third hole (where it was supposed to be) that Cooper ended up with a double bogey.
It might be worth it for this piece of history.
Mike Austin owns the longest golf club according to Guinness World Records
The precise measurement of Cooper’s drive is debatable because it is beyond the bounds.
According to Guinness World Records, the longest golf drive belongs to Mike Austin.
Austin, then 64, teeed 515 yards on the 5th hole of the 1974 National Seniors Open at Winterwood Golf Course in Las Vegas.
Even more impressively, he used a Persimmon driver—about the size of a modern seven-wood.
However, he did benefit from a 27-mph tailwind, which certainly helped his career.
Still, it’s the longest (official) golf drive on the PGA Tour.
Bryson DeChambeau’s longest drive came during a game, when he joined Aaron Rodgers against Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson.
He teeed off for 480 yards on a 777-yard par 5.
So he still has some way to go to match Carl Cooper and Mike Austin!
