What is professional amateur basketball?
Pro-Am Basketball is an elite-level basketball league held outside the regular basketball season (usually in the summer).
They are held across the United States and are eligible for participation by NBA, NCAA, overseas or individual players with special talents or skills.
They are usually highly competitive, allowing players to stay in shape or showcase their talent in the hope that they will be drafted by the team.
Players like Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum have all played pro-am basketball over the past few years.

Isaiah Thomas starts crying after dropping 81 points
Isaiah Thomas dropped a staggering 81 points in the recent Crawsover Pro-Am League run by former player Jamal Crawford.
The former Boston Celtics point guard scored 40 points in the first half and shot 3-pointers.
At the end of Thomas’ performance, the fans stood and clapped.
However, a heartbreaking clip emerged, with Isaiah Thomas crying after the game.
In the clip, Thomas can be seen getting emotional about the league “dropping him,” a free agent despite his obvious talent.
It’s pretty hard to see someone’s dreams and ambitions disappear in front of them, especially for a two-time All-Star.
So, what happened to Isaiah Thomas?
Free agent Isaiah Thomas has not played in the NBA since last season.
Last year, he signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, but only played three games for the team.
Thomas averaged 7.7 points, including two games in double figures.
Isaiah enjoyed his best form with the Boston Celtics, where he was an All-Star in 2016-2017. In 2017, he finished fifth in MVP voting, averaging 29 points per game.

However, he subsequently suffered a knee injury against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s actually an undiagnosed hip injury that continues to plague Thomas.
Thomas has never been the same since, and he went on to play with the Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets, Wizards and Pelicans.
Let’s hope his recent performance in the Crawsover Pro-Am League will spark some NBA interest.
