Getting the best ending in House of Ashes is a tough challenge, but by following these steps, you should be able to save all five characters.
House of Ashes is a game where you have to make critical choices, and each answer you make has a series of consequences. Players will have the opportunity to replay the story and suffer different consequences for each decision.
Players will keep unlocking different paths until they reach the final winning path where each character is still alive.
House of Ashes ending explained
The Bearings tab updates as the player makes decisions, but doesn’t flag every decision. So it is very important to follow certain paths in order to save everyone in the game.
First, you must successfully complete Quick-Time-Events (QTE) to keep people alive. You have to pay special attention to The Assault, Semper Fi and Daylight. Because these are where the three major battles and QTE checks take place.
Another effective tip is being honest, choosing not to shoot someone, or deliberately not passing a QTE can be a great way to keep a character alive. Both sides of the war should be able to cooperate efficiently. For example, Jason and Salim can solve their problems and build a better relationship.
Rachel should also be honest with Clarice. She doesn’t look good when she says the medicine. Clarice will ask her if she should come. You say Rachel should come.
Air support is a dilemma and you must decide whether to use it as a safety net. Before the eclipse ends, the final stand sees air support fire on the creatures to keep the characters alive. So you should give Eric the option to have air support.
When Jason confronts an innocent farmer with his hands up, Jason can choose to shoot him or let him go. You should choose not to shoot him, but to keep him alive.

Another tip is to make sure to take Merwin and give him medication after he falls. When Jason gives him morphine, make sure you don’t pass the QTE in Nick’s character to avoid him suffocating. When the morphine hits, you will be able to escape. So that means Merwin can fix the radio.
When Rachel fell and was hanged by the rope, Eric was struggling to catch her and had to decide whether to grab the rope or cut it. You should decide to cut the rope, because Eric will survive and not slide down the slope, and Rachel will survive the fall.
Another tip you need is to make sure you find Joey’s medical kit when you’re walking down a dark path. Rachel can stay behind and shoot with Jason when escaping the temple.
In terms of the attack, Clarice was left behind so Eric would survive. Rachel helps Eric and he survives. Salim also shot the monster that attacked Rachel, not the monster that attacked him. It’s all a result of helping the characters survive.
In the end, Jason should decide to go back to Salem, and in the final confrontation, each character has their own QTE survival sequence, so this part is crucial.
