How many games will Kyle Larson win in 2021?
Kyle Larson bounced back from rock bottom in 2020 to claim the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship in Phoenix, but how many races did he win along the way?
Kyle Larson’s first win at Hendrick
Back in the 2021 Cup series, Larson replaced seven-time veteran Jimmy Johnson at Hendrick Motorsports.
Although Johnson’s #48 was taken over by Alex Bowman, in reality, Larson’s new #5 team is Johnson’s #48.
He got the team, and Bowman got stickers and sponsors.
Bowman renumbered the number 88, which he inherited from Dale Earnhardt Jr.

He won in Las Vegas in March, his first win in a cup series since Dover played for Ganassi in 2019.
Solid results came before Larson made his mark at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte.
Larson beats court on winning streak
That sparked three straight wins — the best of his career for him.
He beat the field in Charlotte to win his first Crown Jewel event, then followed suit in Sonoma and Nashville.
If he hadn’t had a puncture on the last lap of Pocono 1, that would have easily given him four wins.

Those wins came after three consecutive second-place finishes in the first three races.
His fifth win of the year at Watkins Glen puts him ahead of longtime leader Danny Hamlin in the regular-season standings.
Larson’s sixth win of 2021 and first in the playoffs came from Bristol — his first at the venue.
He doesn’t need to win to book a spot in the Round of 12, as he already has points behind Richmond.
In Charlotte Roval’s round of 12 eliminations, he overcame battery and alternator issues to win.
The pit crew replaced the alternator belt on machine #5 and put him back in the race.
It looked as though Larson would miss the semifinals at some point, but he fought back and secured his seventh win of 2021.
His Roval victory made him the first NASCAR driver to win three road races in the same season.
In Game 1 of the Texas State Semifinals, No. 5 led 256 laps with 334 laps for his eighth win of the season.

It locks Larson into the title race in Phoenix.
For good measure, he went on to win at Kansas and started eight rounds with two wins.
That means Larson has already won four races in 2021 on the 1.5-mile circuit — a field that has previously been a weakness for him.
In Kansas, he also surpassed Jeff Gordon’s long-standing record of leading most laps in a 36-race season.
Larson broke Gordon’s record by leading more than 2,320 laps in 2021. This is the most laps to lead since 1995.
Oh, and for the record, he also won the non-pointing All-Star Game in Texas.
Kyle Larson wins in Phoenix
Larson got off to a good start, putting the No. 5 Chevy on pole in Phoenix.
His machine looks stronger in the short term, while rivals Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin look to have a long-term advantage.
The 30-lap warning took the field to the pits.
Larson’s team completed the second-fastest stop of 2021, propelling him from fourth to the lead.
Larson then blocked Truex Jr’s attention in the closing stages, winning his 10th game of the season.
That brought him his maiden cup title – finally delivering on the promise he’d always been on.
In the end, the right driver wins the championship.
Larson’s season highs
He has 10 race victories and 17 stage victories – the best in the field.
No one has reached double figures in game wins since Johnson in 2007.
Larson has more than doubled his career championships in 2021. He has now won 16 cups.

What about Larson’s Hendrick teammates?
Between them, the four Hendrick Motorsports drivers have 17 wins in 2021.
Larson has 10.
Next up is Bowman at four — a career high.
He has victories in Richmond, Dover and Pocono 1.
Defending champion Chase Elliott has two — both on the road course.
They had bad races on the Tour of the Americas and the American Road in Wisconsin.
William Byron’s No. 24 took home a win at the third round of the season at Homestead.
The 17 wins is Hendrick’s best record in a single season since 2015.
That year, Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon won a combined nine.
