Punxsutawney Phil’s age revealed
according to Official Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, founded in 1887, “There is only one Punxsutawney Phil”. The others are imposters.
This makes Phil (depending on the exact time of his birthday) 135 years old. Indeed, Deeley, president of the Punxsutawney inner circle persist in Phil is really 135 years old.
“He’s been predicting since 1886!” – although the event officially started in 1887.
Phil’s miraculous longevity is attributed to what the Groundhog Club calls an “elixirs” — a secret recipe. Every summer, he would take a sip at the groundhog picnic, which would magically give him more than seven years of life.
His prediction was “100% correct, of course!”
Until 1961, Phil’s name was Br’er Groundhog. Then, for some reason, his name was changed to Punxsutawney Phil.
Although the Groundhog Club said he was “named after King Philip,” they don’t specify Among them, Royal Phil is the namesake of Phil the Groundhog.
Phil has a wife named Phyllis. Unfortunately, however, she doesn’t get an elixir like Phil, so she won’t live forever.
