The green M&Ms, known as Ms. Green, were particularly popular, as many fans speculated that their changing appearance might indicate that the candy icon was considered transgender. While there’s no official confirmation of Ms. Green’s identity, we explored the character’s design history.

M&M redesign changes character style
An American candy classic since 1941, M&M’s Chocolate is best known for its six colorful characters of green, brown, blue, red, orange and yellow, introduced in 1954.

While some fans have been expressing their anger at the character’s changing shoes, Green’s fashion sense isn’t the only thing that’s been getting attention…
Fans think Ms Green may be transgender
Before the recent rebranding, consumers speculated that green M&Ms could be identified as trans. This means that their personal identity and gender do not match their birth gender.
Looking back at the design history of the animated icon, some believe that Green, who was previously thought to be male, came out in a more feminine way.
This has yet to be confirmed by the candy brand, though.
Speculation surrounding Green and Brown’s relationship
