Tottenham Hotspur supporters have found some solace in Oliver Skipp’s performance during the recent England U21s fiasco.
Skip started last night in England’s 2-0 defeat to Portugal’s U21s, which saw Eddie Boothroyd’s side narrowly miss out on the U21s’ European Championship.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the loan star’s performance on Twitter:
Oliver Skipp just makes the game look so relaxing and comfortable.Looking forward to seeing him in prep next year #COYS #THFC

Skip was the only positive for England tonight.
Honestly, a great player with a very bright future in the top flight.

I’ve liked Skipp for a while, and I know he’s going to impress me when I look at him.
But tonight, it’s a whole new setup, the system, the player, from what I’ve seen, he’s honest enough to play for the Spurs.
We have a real top player on our hands.

Skip is going to be the real deal, isn’t it? ……

In fact, I like the look of Skipp’s game.

It’s not his fault that this England team is poor and Eddie Boothroyd is not a good manager. Skip is top talent.

Oliver Skipp is very good at predicting his opponent’s every move, always one step ahead.

jump, jump and jump
England’s second consecutive humiliation in the Championship means they are 90 minutes away from being knocked out when they face Croatia U21s on Wednesday (5pm).
It would be a shocking exit for a team of talented players, including Skip.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a fine solo season at Norwich City, joining the Canaries on loan from Tottenham in August.
He has yet to miss the title game for Daniel Farke’s champions as they aim for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Spurs have limited opportunities, but Skip is doing well at Carrow Road. During his seven years in north London, Skip made just 23 appearances for Spurs. He has made 40 appearances for Norwich.

Not for Jose?
If the Canaries do fly back to the top flight, Skip’s service between Norwich and Tottenham is sure to be a tug of war.
Jose Mourinho doesn’t have a great track record in promoting young players, so it remains to be seen how he handles Skip’s development.
He is full of praise For the March 2020 midfielder, integrating Skip into his first team next season is another story.
The Spurs boss already has his favourite defensive midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hoybjerg, which is where Skip is.
Meanwhile, Boothroyd’s job as U21 boss is certainly up in the air. A talented team has yet to score and they must play against Croatia to have a chance of progressing to the next stage.
Whatever the outcome, some England fans will feel the time has come for the former Watford manager.
