Danny Murphy raved about Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold

Danny Murphy can’t say enough about Trent Alexander-Arnold after his impressive performance in Liverpool’s win over Sheffield United last night, speak at today’s game.
Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a much-needed 2-0 victory at Bramall Lane after losing a shocking four Premier League games in a row.
Great from Trent
The three points will be all the sweeter for Liverpool fans as their two home-grown academy talents excel.
Curtis Jones rightly got a lot of plaudits for his goalscoring performance.
But Murphy’s credit goes to compatriot Scouser Alexander-Arnold.
“Actually, I think another young superstar at Scouse, Trent, is back to his best today,” said the former Liverpool midfielder.
“When you set your standards high, win games, play well, win games and get assists every week, you’re going to be criticized there.”
Alexander-Arnold has come under fire for some of his performances this season. But Murphy thinks the guard is back on track.
He said: “He’s recovering well. I think he played really well in the Merseyside derby. He looks back at his best.
“It was the same today, passing, passing. We were used to seeing everything. Defensively, he didn’t have much to do, but he did well in what he had to do.
“Comfortable on the ball, always a goal threat. He looks nice and sharp. His fitness level is good.
“I love how he always finds the right pass in the final third. Every time he gets time and space on the ball, he hurts you.”

Alexander-Arnold is back
The statistics seem to support Murphy’s view that Alexander-Arnold has rediscovered his magic.
The 22-year-old hit three key passes, According to WhoScored.com, more than anyone on the field. He also attempted four shots and managed five accurate long passes.
Alexander-Arnold’s offensive prowess has never been questioned, but his defensive end is getting more and more attention.
However, the Englishman made two tackles and interceptions at Sheffield last night, highlighting how easily he can do the dirty work.
Trent’s tough times
It hasn’t been an easy season for anyone wearing a Liverpool shirt, Alexander-Arnold being one of them.
His standards are high for such a young man, who was hailed as one of the best full-backs in Europe after Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019.
That mantel went into the title-winning campaign, where he was named PFA Young Player of the Year.
Liverpool fans will be hoping Alexander-Arnold will continue his upward curve when he hosts a rejuvenated Chelsea on Thursday (8.15pm).
