It has been a frustrating season for Celtic and manager Neil Lennon. The club are currently 16 points behind leaders and rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
The two clubs will go head-to-head in their second old derby of the season on January 2, with Steven Gerrard’s side winning 2-0 at Celtic Park in October. The first confrontation.
As such, the Celtics’ ambitions for ten consecutive league titles seem almost certain to be dashed by an unusual season on the pitch.
Lennon will be eager to rectify those mistakes in January. Here are three potential recruits who could help turn the club’s season around.
Patrick Roberts
A name that Celtics fans are very familiar with and love. The winger won three league titles and two Scottish Cups during his last loan spell at Parkhead.
according to glasgow timesMiddlesbrough boss Neil Warnock told the 23-year-old he was free to leave the club in January.
With star wing James Forrest currently sidelined with an ankle injury, it’s truly a match made in heaven for Roberts and the Celtics.
Fraser Foster
Another potential reunion comes from goalkeeper Foster, who also has a successful history with Glasgow.
A decade ago, the England goalkeeper won several trophies during his four-year spell at Celtic Park before returning on loan last season to another success.
But this time he has yet to appear at Southampton. As such, Foster could be the player to solve the Celtics’ current goalkeeping crisis.
Bright Osay-Samuel
Another potential wing player is QPR star Osayi-Samuel. The talented attacker is in the final six months of his contract with his current club.
Belgian side Brugge and Celtic rivals Rangers also want the 22-year-old.But he is still reportedly Lennon’s number one target log.
The youngster has been a regular for the champions this season, scoring three goals and three assists in his 20 appearances.
