Aldertrude (died c. 696 or 526) was a Christian saint who, from 684, was abbot of what is now Maubeuges in Hainaut, northern France.she is also called aldertrude de mauberge, Aldertrud of Morbod, Old Rudis and Adeltrud.
She was one of four children of Saint Walter (also known as Walter Trude), her siblings were Saint Landricus, Bishop of Paris; Saint Dentelin, who died young; and Saint Madberta , who was also the dean of Maubeuge.
Her aunt Ardegund, her mother’s sister, was the first female dean of Maubeuge. Aldertrude was placed in her care when she was a girl and then succeeded her, with her sister Madebelt being the third dean.
She passed away and celebrated on February 25th or 27th. Although some sources say c. The exact year of her death is unknown. In 696, she is said to have lived to an advanced age.
exist The Book of Saints: A Comprehensive Biographical Dictionary (2015), “Editing… a Benedictine friar representing St. Augustine’s Abbey at Chilworth” noted that “her extant biography is unreliable” and “The revised Roman martyr has 170 years of her ex”, giving the date of death 526.
