professional wrestling career
AAA (2000–2002)
After missing the 2000 Olympics, Rodriguez turned to the family business and trained as a professional wrestler with his father. He made his debut as Dos Caras Jr. on May 9, 2000, when he took part in a AAA show to save his father from El Texano and Pirata Morgan. Over the next few years, Callas worked in Mexico and Japan to gain experience in the ring.In Mexico, he worked exclusively for AAA, making appearances on shows such as 2002 escandalovillanowhere he teamed up with El Gronda and El Hijo del Solitario, beating the trio of Pirata Morgan, Sangre Chicana and El Brazo.
Promotions in Japan (2001–2004)
Rodríguez’s first foray into puroresu was in the 2001 Battlarts promotion, where he defeated Kazusari Murakami in the YUKI-BOM-BA-YE event. Rodriguez returned to Japan the following year to compete in professional wrestling Zero1 (Zero1) and All Japan Professional Wrestling (AJPW). After wrestling primarily for Zero1 in 2002 and 2003, Rodríguez joined Hustle, making his debut at their inaugural Hustle 1 event. He will continue to wrestle Hustle under the names Dos Caras Jr. and Hustle Kamen Gold until October 2004.
Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (2005–2009)
In 2005, Caras signed a contract with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).In the company’s first test, Callas participated in the 2005 Junior Cup, but in the game’s storyline he was defeated by Dr. Wagner in the semi-finals. Callas advanced to the cup semi-finals, just a few months after signing with the company, showing that bookers are interested in moving him up the rankings, which came after he won the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship and the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship in three weeks. The game received further support. The following year, on March 31, 2006, Callas entered again Junior Cup And won a comeback victory over Dr. Wagner Jr., who knocked him out of the tournament the year before. He also beat Heavy Metal and the Apolo Dantés to secure a place in the final, beating Héctor Garza for the award. While working in Japan, Caras began working with another second-generation wrestler, Lizmark Jr., and when both joined CMLL, they again featured the team’s famous father as a selling point. Over the next year, Callas found himself without much direction as he worked on a storyline with Último Guerrero and Kenzo Suzuki, but nothing long-term. Callas was given two chances to challenge the Universo 2000 for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship, but was unsuccessful until his third attempt to become the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship on July 8, 2007. While in wrestling outside of Mexico, the heavyweight title suggests he is at the top of the league, promotions in Mexican wrestling tend to place more emphasis on the lighter divisions.
He started showing signs of becoming a rudo after a contract deal with WWE surfaced. He turned his attention away from the game and instead tried to win over the fans, often costing his team the distraction. Callas himself explained the behavior, saying he “injured his shoulder but bravely stayed on the field”. After weeks of hinting at change, Callas finally cemented his villainous image on April 11, 2009, becoming the second member of the Rodriguez family (after his uncle El Sicodélico Sr). Callas had a largely unremarkable performance at the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship, defending the title just four times in his 533 days at the title, before losing the title and heading to WWE.
World Wrestling Entertainment/WWE
Contract Negotiation (2008-2009)

Over the next few months, there were conflicting reports about whether he signed or not, but he remains the CMLL World Heavyweight Champion. When he lost the title to Último Guerrero, it was believed that he did sign with WWE, and he was rumored to be a surprise participant at the 2009 Royal Rumble. However, he stayed with CMLL and stated that he signed a four-year contract and chose CMLL because they offered him a better contract than WWE.
Florida Championship Wrestling (2009-2010)
On June 17, 2009, Rodriguez confirmed that he had signed a three-year contract with WWE, stating that he would not have to participate in WWE’s developmental field, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), but would instead go straight to the main roster. Additionally, he will retain the rights to his name, mask and image, but will allow WWE to use them for promotional purposes during their contract with WWE. He agreed to the contract because it addressed his main reason for rejecting WWE’s offer in January 2009. Despite his claims, he played against Kris Logan in FCW under the Dos name. Later, he also continued to wrestle under the names Dorado and El Dorado. In an August 6 episode of The Abraham Washington Show, Rodriguez revealed a new, maskless wrestling character named Alberto Banderas. When he did, he was criticized by some Mexicans for showing his face, and he responded that only a few knew why he lost his mask in this way. During WWE WrestleMania Revenge During the European Tour in April 2010, he made several non-television appearances for the Raw brand. One night, he wrestled as Doscaras, but he wasn’t wearing a mask. In a failed effort with Christian, he was portrayed as a villain. The following month, Callas returned to the mask on a WWE tour of Mexico and worked as a hometown hero before returning without a mask in the ensuing non-television match raw and smack down show.
