Akiko Morokami (Akiko Morokami, Akiko Mori, born January 12, 1980) is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She turned pro in 1998. On August 15, 2005, Morigami reached her career-high singles ranking: No. 41 in the world.
Morigami has won 1 singles title in her career, beating France’s top seed Marion Bartoli 6-1, 6-3 in Prague in 2007. She was in Cincinnati (losing to Patty Schneider in 2005) and to Anna Chakvetadze in 2007). In the first round of the 2006 French Open, she defeated Nadia Petrova, who was ranked third in the world at the time.
Morigami retired after the 2009 HP Japan Women’s Open in Osaka. In the first round, she defeated qualifier Anastasia Rodionova 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 and in the second round, 1-6, 2- 6 lost to eventual champion Samantha Stosur. This is her last professional WTA match.
