Aidan John Moffat (born 10 April 1973) is a Scottish singer and musician, and member of the Band of Arab Bands.
early life
Moffat was born and raised in Falkirk, Scotland.The first album he bought was Elvis sings for kids Via Elvis. At Falkirk High School, he listened to groups such as the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr. and Slint. He made his first gig at the age of 16 and met David Byrne in Glasgow Barrowlands in 1989. In 1990, at the age of 17, he was expelled from school without further education. He then worked for four years at an independent record store called Sleeves Records, before quitting one morning in 1996 with a hangover and wanting to go home.

In 1995, Moffat and Malcolm Middleton began producing music under the name of the Arab band and sending demo tapes to record labels. Only one, Chemikal Underground, responded, and they were quick to sign.
Moffat and Middleton were briefly reunited in November 2011 as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations at Glasgow venue Nice N Sleazy.

From 1991 to 1996, Moffat recorded with a band called Angry Buddhists, which consisted of Aidan Moffat, Gavin Moffat, Postman Stewart, “Cheg” Taylor and Stobey composition. Moffat is also the drummer for the Bay Band, who have released two albums – Happy is different (1994) and Alison Ray (the year 1995).

Aidan Moffat & the Best-Ofs are a four-piece band led by Moffat.They played their first gig at Glasgow ABC in Scotland in support of American band Slint, where they released the songs “Big Blonde”, “The Last Kiss”, “Ballad of the Unsent Letter”, “Living With You Now” ” and “Atheist’s Lament””. Their first album, titled How to get from Scotland to Paradisepublished on March 3, 2009.
In 2009, Moffat wrote an advice column for an online magazine quiet.
In 2011, Moffat released with pianist, bassist and former Arab band collaborator Bill Wells everything is getting oldwon the first Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) award from the Scottish Music Industry Association in June 2012.

The film also featured traditional singer Sheila Stewart, who criticized the project for not respecting tradition, but ended up performing alongside Moffat at a gig at Barrowlands in Glasgow.

personal life
Moffat lives in Glasgow with his partner and two children, a boy and a girl.
He is known for his distinctive facial hair, which he commented on, saying,
After several razor accidents, I decided as a young man that I would never shave again. Since then, I’ve always liked a little hair. I don’t know if I’m going to lose any power, I doubt I’ll ever find out.
