Carl Edward Sagan is an American astronomer and science writer. He was born on November 9, 1934 in Brooklyn (New York). Carl is an advisor on NASA’s unmanned science missions. Carr’s early work was based on the physics of the planets, particularly the atmospheres of Jupiter and Venus. Later, he became interested in finding out whether life exists on other planets than Earth, and started searching for SETI. His fellow scientists criticized him for wasting resources to discover a fantasy that was ultimately doomed.
His research on planetary atmospheres (astrobiology) and his reputation as a spokesperson for science are worth mentioning. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was one of the most famous scientists in the United States. He devoted his life to making science and its rational nature more accessible. In 1980, he co-founded an international scientific exploration nonprofit.
