Arsenal are looking to cut their wages in the summer by cutting ties with several first-team players, according to the sun. Let’s take a look at three players who could be on stage.
David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi were among the big names sacrificed, the report said.
Arsenal boss Arteta has already hinted at his affection for Torreira and Guendouzi by loaning them out.
The Spaniard does not want to reveal any contract talks with Lacazette until the summer, but has apparently opened talks with Luis over a possible extension (independent).
Regardless of the outcome, let’s take a look at three Arsenal players who could benefit from more game time after the team clears.
Eddie Nketiah
Despite his memorable name, Eddie Nketiah has been a somewhat forgotten figure at the Emirates Stadium.
The England teenager has made 24 appearances in all competitions in 2020/21, but this only includes three starts in the Premier League.
With five goals, the young striker is still trying to establish his authority around Arteta.
One of Nketiah’s main problems was trying to remove Lacazette from his frontcourt position.
If the French striker does decide to leave the Emirates this summer, the Arsenal 21-year-old talent could open the door.
According to a report london footballNketiah can be sold or loaned in the next transfer window.
However, if he moves on and takes his chances in the second half of the season, Nketiah could have a chance to cement his future at Arsenal.
Callum Chambers
Callum Chambers is another Arsenal player who has been dumped this season through no real fault of his own.

A cruciate ligament injury forced him to miss the start of the season. His only two senior team games this season have reached the Europa League group stage, plus minutes for the U23s.
Luiz’s departure could present a great opportunity for Chambers to restore his defense. However, this is no easy task.
Rob Holding and Gabriel are good when they show up, but not necessarily together. At 26, the next transfer window feels like a crossroads moment for Chambers.
Pablo Mari
Another hurdle for Chambers to break into the first team was the presence of Pablo Mari.
Arsenal’s talented Spaniard has been suffering from setbacks this season with an ankle problem.
Arteta has clearly assessed his compatriot. The Gunners boss has turned Mari’s loan move from Flamengo into a permanent deal despite the defender playing just seven games in 2019/20.
Arsenal have kept two clean sheets in Mali’s three league games this season, conceding just one.
If Luiz leaves, Mari and Chambers are likely to compete for a centre-back spot. But who’s to say Arteta can’t fit both of them?
