1980s General Hospital star stuns fans
Holly Garnier, who played Jennifer Smith, was back on the scene when the General Hospital character appeared at Luke’s Memorial in the 1980s.
Jennifer Smith is the daughter of Frank Smith, one of Port Charles’ biggest mob bosses. If she stayed in Port Charles, it seemed she could take over her father’s business. If that’s the case, then Sonny and his empire could be on the decline.
Luke, who used to work for Jane’s father, certainly showed some interest in her. However, it’s likely just to get promoted in Frank’s good book and use it to overcome his ex, Laura.
However, the two eventually hit it off, at least it seemed. The guest star in black who appeared at Luke’s memorial service was actually his ex-wife, um… a bit. The two almost got married, but on their wedding day, Luke pretended to be dead and eloped with Laura.
After Frank’s “death” in 1994, Jennifer traveled to Atlantic City and married Billy “Baggers” Boggs. Two worlds collide when Luke and Laura bump into her, threatening to expose Jennifer and Billy after learning of her wicked antics.
Jennifer reappears on the show eight years after kidnapping Luke and Laura. Jennifer wants to marry Luke again and threatens bad things will happen to Laura unless he agrees to marry her. They got married, but not officially because Luke’s friend Roy Di Luca was posing as a priest, meaning it was a fake wedding.
Then she disappeared again, until in 2015, when she said she took Lucky, she let Luke and Laura come to Canada. This is also when Luke realizes that Frank Smith is still alive, actually kidnapping the lucky ones. So, Luke decided to kill Frank…this time.
Who plays Jennifer Smith?
You might recognize the actor behind General Hospital character Jennifer Smith, Holly Garnier. That’s because she’s also the former Ivy of Days of Our Lives and Cassie of One Live to Live.
Holly Gagnier is an American actress, Born December 12 Los Angeles in 1958. Her parents were cinematographer Hugh Gagnier and stenographer Eleanor Gagnier, and the couple had five children. The 63-year-old has had an acclaimed career on stage, screen and television.
In 2010, she became engaged to Parker Stevenson, who played her on-screen husband in Baywatch (1989) ten years earlier. Gagnier was previously associated with Alec Baldwin and Jim Palmer. In 1999, she had a daughter, and the two lived together in Los Angeles.
