Vijay Kavish is a popular Indian film and television actor known for his various roles in Ramanand Sagar’s epic TV series Ramayan famous.

Vijay Kavish was born in Mumbai. Passionate about acting from an early age, after graduating, he attended the National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi.
Profession
After graduating from NSD, Kavish made his debut with the popular Bollywood film Salma (1985). He made his television debut in Ramanand Sagar’s epic mythical TV series Ramayana (1987). During Ramadan, Kavish appears in three different roles as Lord Shiva, Maya Sura and Maharishi Valmiki.

Mayasura is the adoptive father of Mandodari (Ravan’s wife). Kavish has also played the role of Maharishi Valmiki in other Ramanand Sagar projects; such as Ramadan Nord and Rafkush.

Ramayan went on to become one of the most successful TV shows in India, and Vijay Kavish’s versatile performances made hin a household name in the country. Besides Ramayan, he has also appeared in many other popular TV shows including Vikram Aur Betaal and Shri Krishna. In Shri Krishna, he played the dual roles of Ugrasena and Lord Shiva.

He also appeared in the popular Doordarshan show “Idhar Udhar” (1985) with Ratna Pathak and Supriya Pathak.

Facts/trivia
- His father was a dialogue writer.
- He was 22 when he played the triple role of Lord Shiva, Maya Sura and Maharishivarmiki in Ramayana.
- In an interview, he told him that initially, Ramanand Sagar offered him the role of Lord Shiva in Ramayan. However, as the show progressed, he was asked to play two more roles, Mayasura and Maharishi Valmiki. Interestingly, Kavish played these characters so hard that he made viewers guess the same person played all three.
- He reportedly wrapped a real snake around his neck when Ramayan depicted Lord Shiva.
