Veeru Devgan is an Indian action choreographer and film director. He is the father of veteran Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. He passed away on May 27, 2019 from an age-related illness.

Veeru Devgan was born in 1934 to a Saraswath Brahmin family (Age: 85 at the time of death) in Amritsar, British India. To become an actor, he ran away from home with three friends in 1957, he traveled by train with his friends, and without a ticket, he was sent to prison. Ticket inspectors took them to magistrates’ court, where they were told to pay a fine or spend a week in solitary confinement as compensation. They had no money, so they had to spend a week in jail. After arriving in Mumbai, they realized that life here is not easy. As a result, his friends went back to Amritsar, but he didn’t, instead he did a lot of work, such as car cleaner, carpenter, etc. After earning some money from these menial jobs, he took up martial arts because he knew he wasn’t very good at acting. Soon, he established himself as a movement choreographer.

Veeru Devgan is an action choreographer. He choreographed the action and fight scenes in more than 80 films. His first film as an action choreographer was “Roti Kapada Aur Makaan” (1974). Actor Manoj Kumar was the one who helped him get that opportunity.

He first acted as a stuntman in the film Anita (1967) starring Manoj Kumar and Sadhana. As an actor, he made his debut with the film Sourabh (1979). He is also a director and has directed many films. One of his best directed films is Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999) starring Amitabh Bachchan and his son Ajay Devgn.
