Sudar Chandran is an Indian film and television actress and Bharatana dancer. Sudha Chandran was born on September 27, 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She lost a leg to gangrene in a traffic accident near Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu in June 1981, when she returned from Madras with her parents. She is known for playing Ramola Sikand in Kaahin Kissii Roz, Yamini Singh Raheja in Naagin, Chitradevi in Deivam Thandha Veedu, the Tamil remake of Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Anand’s first wife in Hum Paanch.
She is a great inspiration for dancers and strugglers as she makes the impossible possible with her dedication and hard work. Since then, she has starred in several other TV series such as K Street Pali Hill, in which she played the role of Gayatri Kaul. The show was produced by Ekta Kapoor for star plus. She also played the role of the mother of a rich bad man in a TV series called Kuch Iss Tara, which aired on Sony TV and was also produced by Ekta Kapoor. She once again participated in Sony TV’s dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa”.

Sudha Chandran was born in Mumbai. She had previously told Nettvu that she was born and raised in Mumbai, but her family is from Wayalur, Tiruchirappalli and Tamil Nadu in Tamil Nadu. Her fourth-generation grandparents moved from Tamil Nadu to Palakkad, Kerala. Her father, KDChandran, worked for USIS and was an actor. Sudha Chandran holds a bachelor’s degree from Mithibai College, Mumbai, followed by a master’s degree in economics. In May 1981, Chandran, about 16, suffered an accident in Tamil Nadu, injuring both legs.
She received initial treatment at a local hospital and was transported to Vijaya Hospital in Madras. Her right leg needed to be amputated after doctors discovered gangrene had developed. Chandran said this period was the hardest of her life. She then regained some mobility with the help of a Jaipur prosthetic foot. After a lapse of two years, she resumed dancing and performed in India, Saudi Arabia, USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen and Oman. Her biography is part of the curriculum for school-aged children aged 8-11. Sudha Chandran married assistant director Ravi Dang in 1994. She received an honorary doctorate from Invertis University in Bareilly.
