He used to practice with his cousin and cricketer Anmolpreet Singh at a club in Patiala. They will often practice bunks in class. Simran has played for Punjab in several domestic leagues.

Simran started playing cricket when he was in school. However, his family was skeptical of his decision to choose cricket as a career. However, while watching Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist play cricket, Simran fulfilled his dream of becoming a cricketer. Simran Singh made his debut at the 2018 ACC Emerging Team Asia Cup on December 7, 2018. Simran played for India’s Emerging team against Afghanistan’s Emerging team. In the same month, he was acquired by Kings XI Punjab for Rs. 4.8 crore in Indian Premier League 2019. He made his Twenty20 debut in February 2019 at the 2018-2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Punjab.
