Rogers Bio | Wiki
Rip Rogers (real name Mark Sciarra) is a former American professional wrestler. He currently serves as the head coach of Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). Rip started wrestling in 1977. Some time later, he co-founded “Convertible Blondes” with Pez Whatley and Gary Royal. They formed this alliance with Angelo Poffo’s International Wrestling Championship (ICW). The union won the doubles title with the Royals.
The mythical Liberty Birds defended the regional NWA Tag Team Championship by wrestling with any two of their three members, in addition, the Open Blonde used the so-called “Free Bird Rule” when defending the ICW Tag Team Championship in the same manner. However, Rip left the ICW after a dispute with Angelo Poffo’s son Randy Poffo, whose ring name is Randy Savage.
He occasionally wrestles in the United States for a while, doing a promotion in Indianapolis called Circle City Wrestling. Finally, Rip settled in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in 1997. He joined Dave the Rave and co-founded “Suicide Blondes” with Jason Lee. Rip retired from active duty in 2000, after which he was named OVW’s head coach.
At the age of 48, Rip was involved in a car accident in which he was hit and injured. The accident forced him out of the ring entirely; according to OVW’s 2011 report, the accident left him “limping.” Currently, he teaches advanced wrestling classes at OVW, where he teaches budding wrestlers.
