Her parents insisted that she and her brother Joaquin form a duet and sing together. The band was formed in 1978. During a trip to Spain, they met the romantic musician Luis Aguilé, who asked them for a tape and recommended them to what is now the CBS label, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and made their music known. In 1981, Pimpinela released their first album “Las primeras golondrinas”.

- On July 2, 1996, Lucia and her brother opened Pimpinela Home for Children (Hogar Pimpinela para la Niñez), a non-profit organization providing care to impoverished children in Argentina. The organization’s land was donated by the provincial government of Buenos Aires. The residence is sponsored by Gloria Estefan (American singer-songwriter) with help from Geraldine Chaplin (actress).
- On October 22, 2006, during a tour in Zacatecas (Mexico), she experienced a stress spike in her left leg, hand and arm. She was taken to the Mexican Red Cross for treatment. The next day, her legs recovered, but not her arms and hands, so she had to perform while hanging by her hands. She was diagnosed with cerebral ischemia, but the results showed no brain damage. She has since performed another gig in Piedmont on January 14, where she collapsed without major complications.
- After her performance in the town of St. Nicholas, she faced another surge of pressure. She had a stroke. She remained at home to recover and resumed her work activities shortly thereafter.
