She grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kira decided to become an actor at the age of 13. She attends an international school in Kuala Lumpur. While at school, Kira actively participated in school musicals. She also studied Carnatic Music and Bharatanatyam to keep in touch with her roots. After completing her studies, Kira received a Bachelor of Science degree. PhD in Psychology, University College London. She has since earned a Diploma in Film Performance from the New York Film Academy. She also received acting training at the National Youth Theatre in London. In 2018, Naranayan moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting.
