The journey of life
Kevin De Bruyne was born on June 28, 1991 in Drungen, Ghent, Belgium, to Herwig and Anna. Because of his mother’s background, Kevin spent the first few years of his life traveling across England and Africa. Because of his father’s involvement in the oil investment business, his family almost always moved for business purposes.
Kevin’s first football experience came when he was four years old, living in his hometown of Drongen. At school, he started playing football. One of the biggest motivators while Kevin was growing up was the poor state of Belgian football.
Kevin left his home at the age of 14 due to a lack of infrastructure that could support his ambition to become a world-class footballer. In Genk’s youth system, he joined the academy and began to develop his skills. His early years at the academy began to gain media attention, and he rose to fame as a teenager.
Although his family was not short of money, he survived because he made a little money from the club. This is his moment of independence. Apart from only visiting his family on weekends, he devotes himself entirely to football.
De Bruyne began dating Lacroix in 2014, and the couple had a son in 2016. In June 2017, the couple married after having their first child.
Kevin is known for being short-tempered on and off the court. Kevin’s then-girlfriend, Caroline Linin, reportedly had an affair with Thibaut Courtois in 2013, according to the Daily Mail. During one of their practice sessions, Kevin lashed out at Courtois, but they both reconciled.
