Hatice Cengiz was born on Sunday 18 July 1982 (Age 38; as of 2020), located in Bursa, a province in the Marmara region of northwestern Turkey. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. She went to a religious seminary in Bursa. Later, she moved to Istanbul with her family. She has studied in Egypt, Oman, Jordan and the UK. She completed postgraduate studies in anthropology in Oman. She studied Arabic for two years in Egypt. She pursued her PhD at Istanbul University, researching Omani culture and practices, and writing her dissertation on the Islamic State (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).

At the time, I was writing for a Turkish political magazine, and I walked up to him over coffee and introduced myself. I said I wanted to interview him for a political website. He came to me on the second break and agreed to talk. We talked for half an hour and I recorded the conversation. I still have it in my phone. He later told me that he liked my attitude and the fact that I could speak Arabic, not that he was interested in my looks. “
They all started talking to each other via email, discussing their views, opinions and insights on current events, political issues and the Arab world. Soon, they started meeting and decided to get married. At first, Hatice’s father disapproved of their relationship, citing the 22-year age gap, but eventually agreed. On Sunday, September 16, 2018, Hatice and Jamal were married in accordance with Islamic tradition in the presence of Hatice’s family.
On October 2, 2018, Jamal went to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to receive a certificate of divorce from Jamal and his ex-wife. After Jamal got the certificate from the consulate, they both decided to marry on civil grounds. However, Jamal was assassinated on October 2, 2018.

- When Jamal Khashoggi went to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey to collect documents proving Jamal’s divorce from his wife, Hatice accompanied him to the consulate and waited for him outside as he entered the consulate. Hatice reportedly waited for him for several hours, and when he did not come out, she contacted Turkish authorities and Jamal’s friend (an adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan) and informed them of his disappearance. On October 2, 2018, Jamal was assassinated by the Saudi government at the consulate.
- From the day Jamal disappeared to the announcement of his death to all the judicial proceedings, Heidis has worked tirelessly to bring justice to her late fiancé.
