Desi Arnaz was born on March 2, 1917 in Santiago, Republic of Cuba, to Cuban politicians Desiderio Alberto Arnaz II and Dolores de Acha. He comes from a wealthy family with three ranches, a palatial home and a vacation home on a private island in the bay of Santiago de Cuba. After the “Cuban Revolution” of 1933, his father Alberto was imprisoned and his entire property was confiscated.
When his father was released, the family fled to Miami, Florida. After arriving in Florida, Desi enrolled at Saint Louis University. Patrick Catholic High School. To improve his English, he attended “Saint Leo Prep” near Tampa in 1934. At the same time, he played guitar at the “Roney Plaza Hotel”.
