Brijesh Singh (aka Arun Kumar Singh) was born on Monday 9th November 1964 (55; same as 2019) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He grew up in the village of Dhaurahara in Varanasi. Brijesh was an outstanding student who passed the Intermediate Examination at Udaipratap Inter College in Varanasi with distinction in 1984. Thereafter, he attended a university in Varanasi where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. degree; however, he left the course halfway through and joined the criminal world.

A science student turned criminal
Before making a name for himself in the criminal world, Brijesh Singh was an accomplished student dreaming of a career in science. In 1984 Brijesh had just completed a Bachelor of Science degree. At a university in Varanasi, his father Ravindra Nat Singh was murdered in broad daylight in Qazpur. On August 27, 1984, while Ravindranath Singh was on his way home, he was stabbed in Gazpur by his political rival Hariha Singh and the Panchu Singh gang. The incident destroyed Brijesh Singh from within, who vowed to avenge his father’s murder, so soon-to-be science graduate Brijesh Singh took his first steps into the criminal world. Brijesh Singh had to wait almost a year to avenge his father’s murder, and finally, on May 27, 1985, the day came when he confronted Harihar Singh, one of the culprits of his father’s murder, and in a moment Kill Brijesh Harihar in broad daylight. The Sikraura massacre trial lasted 32 years; however, he was acquitted in August 2018 due to a lack of substantial evidence against Brijesh Singh.

On 12 February 1992, Brijesh Singh entered JJ Hospital in Mumbai disguised as a doctor and killed four members of the Gawli gang. Dawood was impressed by Brijesh’s actions, and the two became close friends. However, after the bombings in Mumbai in 1993, their relationship turned sour; because Brijesh Singh was unaware of Dawood’s plan to destroy Mumbai and kill many innocent people. Although Dawood fled India after the explosion, Bridgesh Singh attempted to kill Dawood several times. However, he failed every time.

To fight against Mukhtar Ansari’s dominance, Brijesh Singh obtained political asylum from the BJP MLA from Krishnanand Rai, the Muhammad Dabad parliament. However, in 2005, the Ansari gang killed Krishnanand Rai, and Brijesh Singh left the UP and took refuge in Odisha. On 24 January 2008, a special team of Delhi Police arrested Brijesh Singh from Bhubaneswar. In February 2008, he was detained in Varanasi Central Prison. He has since spent the next three years in prisons in Maharashtra and Gujarat, going through a variety of different situations. In 2012, he returned to Varanasi Central Prison, whereupon Delhi Police remanded him under the Maharashtra Organised Crime Control Act (MCOCA) 1999 and held him at Tihar Prison.
Political career
Brijesh Singh’s political ambitions were nurtured while in prison. In 2012, he ran for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election with the Bharatiya Samaj Party votes from the Saiyad Raja constituency of Chandauli; however, he lost the election. He has since brought her wife Annapurna into politics. Annapurna went from BSP to MLC. In 2016, Bridgesh Singh became an independent MLC, despite the BJP’s tacit support for him.
