It is considered a non-profit organization. It focuses on simple living, a vegan diet, without any intoxication like tobacco, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, honest income, not indulging in sex outside of legal marriage, by repeating five names of Guru (Master) during daily meditation practice empowerment. The sect does not follow rituals, rituals, hierarchies or mandatory contributions of followers or devotees. There are no mandatory gatherings and no need to give up religious or cultural identity to go this route. At the time of initiation, Surat Shabd Yoga was taught that it must be practiced according to the instructions of a teacher or guru in the world. In this practice, the disciple must sit and meditate, closing his eyes, focusing on the eyebrows, and performing the Simran by reciting the five holy names imparted during the empowerment. By practicing it daily, the disciple will be able to hear the divine voice or word (also known as Shabd) within himself. Ultimately, this was defined as Surat Shabd Yoga in Sant Mat.
