It’s been long enough to wonder if we’ll ever see Hellboy Back on the big screen, but if it does happen, it must feel as if David Harbour won’t play this titular role. The recent hit for the film was enough to make it clear to the producers that it wasn’t a wise idea to go ahead with a sequel, and if anyone remembers, the idea of moving forward with Ron Pullman’s version after the second film was ‘this It is also the goal of many behind the scenes. Unfortunately, despite all the squabbling and complaints from fans, nothing seems to make them happy unless it’s what they want to see when they want to. The fickle nature of the fans can be a little annoying at times, but it’s understandable because the nature of the Hellboy character is something, if it stays the same in the comics, if it’s possible to bring this , that’s great to the screen.
Some will argue that Perlman brings that energy, and they’d be right, but Harbour did manage to bring his own style to the character, although many fans disagree. The point of all of this is that Hellboy is a fun and engaging story with a lot of potential, but according to fans, no movie has yet been perfect. It’s funny just thinking that things like this can be made perfect because people see more than once when comic book characters are adapted for the screen, things rarely come out the perfect way, because between the actors, the performances, and the fandom. Acceptance, before anything can be seen as a success, someone has to bridge the huge disconnect. There are comic book characters who do this, but they are relatively few compared to many comic characters that fans don’t like.
