Will Super Skull make its debut in Secret Invasion?
One of the most underrated Marvel villains who needs to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon is Super-Skrull. He has a long-standing personal feud with the Fantastic Four, given his race and where he’s from. Speaking of which, those guys should have their own movies soon. Yes, Fox has tried twice in the past, but we have to move on. Hopefully Marvel and Jon Watts are aware of the mistakes these movies have made and will do whatever it takes to avoid repeating them. They had to because Marvel’s first family desperately needed a win. I think they can succeed, but I wonder who the main opponent is? The obvious first choice was Doctor Doom, but Fox tried it twice in both films. For those who don’t remember, it wasn’t as good as it should have been. It’s unfortunate, but honestly, I don’t think Doctor Doom should be the main antagonist of the MCU’s Fantastic Four movies. I voted that the Mole Man, a particularly little-known and overlooked Fantastic Four villain could occupy that spot. It will provide a new and unfamiliar character that we can learn more about, while putting Doctor Doom aside. I think it’s a logical choice, especially since we’ve seen Doctor Doom as the big bad guy in the three Fantastic Four movies. However, I think many fans should remember that the Fantastic Four has a lot of experience battling cosmic and alien villains. One of the villains is Super Skrull, one of the most powerful members of his race.
So why is he one of the most powerful Skrulls? It’s the same reason I say his animosity with the Fantastic Four is personal. His powers include possessing all the abilities of every member of the team. This means he can stretch his body to incredible lengths, make himself invisible and create fields, control fire and turn his fists into stone. Imagine seeing a green alien reaching out with a hand and holding a flaming fist made of orange rock, half of his body appearing to disappear. That’s the strongest Super-Skrull, and it’s sure to make the Fantastic Four run for their money. This is the villain the team doesn’t take lightly. I would say that Super-Skrull is among the top five most powerful villains in the Fantastic Four because of this. Because of this, we need to see his official live-action debut. Does it have to be in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie? Maybe, but I’m thinking of introducing him somewhere soon, and in a low profile. We all know the Secret Invasion series coming to Disney+ next year. This sounds like an exciting series because it’s based on an amazing Marvel storyline, but who is the main villain of that storyline? That’s right, the sneaky, green, very nasty Skrull alien. With their ability to transform into anyone at a glance, they are very dangerous enemies. They are hiding in plain sight and will wait a long time to carry out their plans. They are collected, they are counted, and they are masters of infiltration. In Super-Skrull’s case, however, the art of infiltration and stealth has little to do with him. Who needs to use shapeshift to hide when you have all the power of the Fantastic Four team?
Now on paper, it does sound odd to have Super-Skrull debut before the Fantastic Four. However, I predict that the main antagonist of the Secret Invasion series will be the cunning queen of the Skrulls, Wayland. Most of the Skrulls we’ve seen in the MCU so far are victims of the misunderstood conquest of the Kree Empire. They’re not the scheming villains we often see in comics, at least not yet. I don’t think the MCU could have the Skrulls without them being the bad guys. For us Marvel fans, it doesn’t make any sense because they are great villains. On top of that, they caused a lot of problems for the Avengers. I hope we’ll see something similar in the Secret Invasion series, which can start with Super-Skrull. Now if the series wanted to low-key and prepare for the arrival of the Fantastic Four, they could have Super-Skrull make his debut in the series without his powers. The series could introduce him to his regular Skrull name, Kl’rt, and develop his reputation as a soldier of the Order under Queen Weylenk. In the comics, he was handpicked by Skrull Emperor Dorek VII as the subject of an experiment that would grant him all the abilities of the Fantastic Four team. He was then sent to Earth with orders to eliminate the Fantastic Four so the Skrulls could invade without their interference. As a new and improved Super-Skrull, he gave the team a tough fight, but ultimately lost.
He’s a really cool character, and he’ll be the perfect physical enemy for the team to face in the MCU. However, I think it would be a better move to introduce him to his regular Skrull identity and have him build loyalty to the Skrull Queen. When the Fantastic Four does appear, he has a chance to gain the power of the team and fight them. That’s the way the Skrulls are, at least in the comics. I still think there are some radical groups of Skrulls in the MCU that are fighting for blood. These are the Secret Invasion series that will get Nick Fury in trouble. Before she becomes queen, their leader is likely to be Wayland, and she needs some strong enforcers. That was supposed to be the start of Super-Skrull, and set the stage for his inevitable battle with the Fantastic Four. Again, we need to see a villain with all the powers of the team. Just imagine how cool he looks on screen.
