Why Pulp Fiction Doesn’t Need a Butch Coolidge Storyline

I even need to tell you how big pulp Fiction Is it in the world of pop culture? Even though Quentin Tarantino’s classic came out in 1994, it’s still a huge benchmark in cinema thanks to its inventive structure, engaging dialogue, and colorful cast of characters. When most people think of a scene or moment in a movie, they usually think of Marv getting hit in the face, or Jules’ bible chatter, or even Mia and Vicent’s dinner and fun little dance tunes. There are a lot of great scenes in the movie, but the least talked about is the Butch Coolidge scene.Granted, the madness in which he caught two men raping Marcellus was an unforgettable moment, but everything else pales in comparison to the others pulp Fiction. In fact, no need for a Butch Coolidge storyline. It’s mostly forgettable and not very useful. Yes, Butch was to blame for Vincent’s death, but the focus is mostly on boxing and the pawnshop arc, because the Vega/Butch stuff is actually pretty good.
Butch barely plays a role during Jules and Vincent’s journey (minus the murder) throughout the film. In fact, take out Butch and Pulp Fiction is better. The love triangle between Vincent, Mia, and Marcellus could be an interesting exploration. Or we could get to know more about Pumpkin and Honey Bunny before they decide to rob restaurants. We’re not allowed to learn about Bruce Willis’ character due to so much going on. He killed a man in the ring and played games with his winnings. That’s not exactly who I want to support. indeed, pulp Fiction Not a movie featuring the most likable characters. Jules and Vincent are not good people. However, we love them because as funny as they are, they are fun and entertaining. We don’t really get the moment of Butch, whose story doesn’t have the juice others have.
The Butch Coolidge story itself isn’t bad. In fact, it’s really good and should flow better on the overall arc. Butch was forced to accept a bribe from Marcellus to fight Floyd, much to the dismay of Vincent, who had some harsh words for the boxer when they first met. They could really better explore the dynamic between Vincent, Marcellus and Butch. Maybe Vincent was trying to induce Wallace to sell out Marcellus? This can be a great way to add more content to the story. Since there isn’t much connection between these guys, Butch’s sideline feels disconnected from everything else. The story really takes more time to cook and it does work. In fact, Tarantino could have taken out Butch’s play and made it his own.A bit like pulp Fiction The spin-off could have provided more context for Butch, Marcellus, and Mia. Heck, Vincent could get more love too. For now, it’s hard to care about Butch because we don’t know him well enough.
We know even less about his girlfriend. Yes, he didn’t take bribes and discredit the sport, but he did kill someone in the end. Now, boxing or any type of combat sport unfortunately comes with that risk, but Tarantino doesn’t need to script Butch to kill that guy. After hearing of his death, he showed little remorse for his opponent. Of course, Butch didn’t particularly want to kill the guy, but we do need a moment of serious regret for his actions. The main focus, however, is the blow to Butch, and given the other stories involved, the film can’t quite be brewing at this point. Vega’s death was good for Butch, but not well deserved for Butch. With karma coming to the killer, it makes sense why Butch would end the guy who wanted to kill him in the first place. The heat between the two was not enough to make him feel that Butch took revenge on Vincent. As I mentioned before, there is nothing wrong with the Butch Coolidge story. But we need more about his world and character. Everything that happens to Butch is accidental or serendipitous, not a story beat that leads to certain moments. pulp Fiction It does earn the title of a classic, but it’s definitely not because of Butch’s plot.
