Raducanu splits with former coach after Wimbledon
Emma Raducanu parted ways with head coach Nigel Sears after reaching the round of 16 at this year’s Wimbledon.
Nigel Sears is the father-in-law of British tennis legend Andy Murray and the father of Kim Sears.
Sears is one of the most experienced coaches on the women’s tour, having worked with the likes of Ana Ivanovic, Daniela Hantuchova and Anett Kontavei.
He has been a consultant since Emma was 15 and worked full time with Emma during his probationary period.
During the competition, she was also mentored by Matt James from Flintshire, England.
James spent two years at Raducanu before serving at the Lawn Tennis Association’s National Tennis Center.

Emma Raducanu’s US Open coach
Raducanu’s decision to part ways with Sears came as a surprise.
She replaced him with Andrew Richardson, a former coach she had previously worked with.
Richardson, 47, has barely coached at the main tour level, but has been with Raducanu for two years at the Bromley Tennis Centre since he was 11.
Andrew Richardson is a former British Davis Cup player. He signed a short-term contract with Emma.
Daily Mail reports The long-term decision will be made after the U.S. Open. Emma’s father, Ian, will have a key say in the matter.

Emma appears happy with coach Andrew Richardson
Emma made a splash at the 2021 US Open when she qualified for the tournament without dropping a set.
Andrew’s method clearly worked, and now Emma is happy to work with him.
In a recent press conference, she said: “Andrew is a very good coach. He is very experienced and has played himself. He knows the ins and outs of the game and what it takes to be a player from a player’s point of view. .
“He was really good at instilling the basics into my game and made me realize like getting the basics to a really good level gets you a long way.
“And he’s also a very, like, calm character. So sometimes, if I get nervous, or, get too excited or expect too much of myself, he’s very, very good at, you know, let me relax, like, let me rest assured.
“I’m really excited to work with him.”
After her blockbuster victory, the partnership is sure to continue for some time.
