Who is Craig Shipp? BBC gymnastics commentator tackles technical issues at Tokyo 2020

There has been some controversy surrounding the BBC’s coverage of Tokyo 2020 gymnastics. Some viewers found themselves without the live stream and unable to keep up with all the action. The BBC has apologised for this question With their broadcast, commentators Matt Baker and Craig Shipp were forced to apologize. We introduce you to gymnastics commentator and gymnastics veteran Craig Heap.
Meet former gymnast and BBC commentator Craig Heap
Craig Heap was a former British Olympic team athlete who became a BBC gymnastics commentator. He was born on 10 July 1973 in Burnley, Lancashire and is 48 years old.
His parents worked in dairy farming, but Heap discovered gymnastics as a hobby at the age of 9. However, he battled the stigma of the sport while attending a boys’ school.
His gymnastics career saw him compete in the Commonwealth Games, multiple British Championships and finally the Sydney Olympics.

Since retiring from gymnastics, Heap has been involved in a number of charities, including a partnership with the Youth Sports Trust. He also runs his own company, Olymp-Fit UK, which aims to influence young people to lead healthier, more active lives.
Shipp is also currently the performance coach for the men’s gymnastics team at the Newcastle City Gymnastics Academy.
He has also appeared on TV shows such as Think It’s All Over and was a judge on the celebrity gymnastics show Tumble.
Craig Heap has been married to his wife since 2009, but her identity has not been disclosed to the public.
What has he accomplished in his gymnastics career?
during his gymnastics Profession Craig Heap’s crowning achievement was winning two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
He led England to their first team gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He then won gold again in the team event at the 2002 Manchester Olympics.
Heap has represented England over 100 times and has participated in the UK and UK Championships.
he won 14 British Championships, as well as 5 European and 5 World Championships.

He finally qualified at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and while he didn’t win a medal, he achieved his personal best in the all-around event.
How long has he commented?
Heap is known for his strong northern accent and wit in gymnastics reviews.
He has commented on the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games for the BBC, as well as the London and Rio Olympics.
For Tokyo 2020 Gymnastics Review Heap, Baker and Kristen Steele are not in Tokyo, but in their studio in Salford. This may explain some of the technical difficulties the team encountered.
