Former IndyCar champion Danica Patrick will be in Austin for Sky Sports F1’s US Grand Prix this weekend, but where did she record her only IndyCar win?
Danica Patrick IndyCar Victory Announced
After advancing through the junior team, Patrick made his IndyCar debut in 2005.
Driving the #16 Rahal Letterman Racing, she finished 15th in her Homestead-Miami Speedway debut.
In her fifth IndyCar race – she finished fourth in the Indy 500.
That race was historic as Patrick became the first woman to lead the Indy 500.

She ranked 12th in 2005 with 325 points.
Patrick played in every game in 2006 except the opener in which teammate Paul Dana was killed in an accident.
Despite scoring 302 points, she climbed to ninth place in the standings.
In 2007 – she will move to Andretti Green Racing – the same team that Romain Grosjean now races in IndyCar.
A year later in Japan, Patrick will make IndyCar history.
On her annual visit to Japan’s double-ring Motegi circuit, she reluctantly fueled to record the victory, sprinting to the front with three laps remaining.
This happened against the backdrop of the reunification of open-wheel racing in the United States following the devastating divisions of the late 1990s.
Patrick’s victory was, and so far, the only female driver in IndyCar.

A year later, at the Indy 500, Patrick finished third.
This is the best result achieved by a female driver at The Brickyard.
Patrick then found it difficult to get results – she had her best P2 finish in 2010 before leaving IndyCar at the end of 2011.
Danica Patrick’s NASCAR career
Patrick switched to the Cup Series in 2012 after a part-time stint in the XFinity Series in 2011.
She made her cup debut at the Daytona 500 in 2012 — 10 races in total.
2013 was a full-time attack on No. 10 Stewart Haas, and the likes of Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick were teammates during her tenure.

She competed for SHR for five full seasons with seven top 10 finishes.
Her best finish was in Atlanta in 2014, where she finished sixth.
In 2013, at the Daytona 500, Patrick put her Chevy on the pole.
However, she slipped to eighth place in the 500 – which would be her best finish in a 500.
final swan song
In 2018, Patrick competed in the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 as a farewell tour.
At Daytona, she finished 28th on the Premium Motorsports machine.
She was caught up to the big one halfway through.
The likes of Harvick, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr, and Brad Keselowski also got into trouble.
At Indy, she drove for oval specialist Ed Carpenter Racing – although she could only finish 30th thanks to the Will Power win.
To date, this is Patrick’s last race in motorsport.
