Tony La Russa’s review of Yermin Mercedes
In Monday night’s 16-4 win over the Minnesota Twins, White Sox hitter Yermin Mercedes went 3-0 on a long-running solo homer from Willians Astudillo.
This appears to violate one of baseball’s “unwritten rules,” as evidenced by the twins’ announcer’s reaction to the explosion.

The Twins later pitched directly behind Mercedes, resulting in the ejections of Tyler Duffy and Rocco Baldelli. Larusa appeared to support them and said he had no problem with “how the twins handled it.”

What did Yermin Mercedes say to Tony La Russa?
Although some people were angry with Mercedes, he felt he had nothing to apologize for.
“I’ll play like that. I’m Ye Ermin. I can’t be another person because if I change it, everything changes. … We just had a good time. It’s baseball.”
La Russa continued: “I heard him say ‘I play my game.’ No, he didn’t. He played the MLB game, respected the game, respected the opponent.”
