He won gold in the men’s S14 200m freestyle
Dunn added to his silver medal by winning the men’s S14 200m freestyle earlier this week.
The 25-year-old managed to hold off Brazil’s Gabriel Bandeira by 0.34 seconds to take the gold.
“After 100 flights on Wednesday, I was more motivated. I had to sprint towards 150m,” Dunn said.
“I felt great, the whole swim felt great, then the pain came in the last half and I just kept going.”
What is the disability of swimmer Reese Dunn?
The swimmer rose to prominence in 2019, winning three golds and one silver at the World Championships in London.
Reece Dunn, whose disability is autism, started swimming at the age of 9 because his parents wanted him to learn life skills.

“Swimming is my way of escaping the outside world and allowing me to be where I feel most comfortable,” he said.
In June, he broke the S14 100m and 200m freestyle records at the World Para Swimming World Series in Berlin.
He then won individual gold medals in the S14 200m freestyle and S14 100m butterfly at the World Championships.

What does the S14 stand for at the Paralympics?
Dunn competes in the men’s S14 100m butterfly.
Sport categories in swimming consist of the prefix “S” or “SB” and a number. The prefixes represent strokes, and the numbers represent motion classes.
Prefix stands for:
• S: Freestyle, butterfly and backstroke
• someone: breaststroke
S14 swimmers have intellectual disabilities, which often cause the athlete to experience difficulties with pattern recognition, sequencing, and memory.
It can also mean they have slower reaction times, which often affects athletic performance.
Relative to their speed, S14 swimmers made more strokes than able-bodied elite swimmers.
