American track and field athlete Jarlene Roberts wins a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
The 22-year-old set a U.S. record in the women’s 100-meter T37 final on Thursday.
She was only 0.01 seconds ahead of third-place Chinese player Jiang Fenfen.
Chinese athlete Wen Xiaoyan won the competition, taking her third Olympic gold medal.
What is the disability of Paralympic star Jalene Roberts?
Jaleen Roberts was born on November 19, 1998 in Tacoma, Washington, USA.
Roberts was born with cerebral palsy.
She played a variety of sports from a young age, including basketball, soccer, wrestling, and track and field.
She participated in disability sports in 2017.
Coaches Teresa Skinner and David Greig introduced Roberts to disabled track and field.
she Say: βThe biggest sacrifice I had to make was my comfort. I was hesitant to participate in the Paralympics because I have always competed with able-bodied athletes and never wanted to highlight my disability, I wanted others to think I was capable.
“After stepping out of my comfort zone, I was given a lot of opportunities that would not have been possible.”

What is the T37 for the Paralympic Games?

She also competed in the 200m, long jump and Paralympic round-the-world relay.
All were classified as T37.
Paralympic T37 athletes mainly include people with cerebral palsy, stroke or traumatic brain injury.
The T37 athlete has moderate hypertonia, ataxia, or athetosis of the half body.
The opposite side of the body may be least affected, but always shows good functional ability while running.
Arm movements are asymmetrical, and some torso asymmetry is often evident.
