‘There’s a top five’: Carragher finds out how Klopp is tweaking Liverpool’s attack

Liverpool have been trying the same things over and over and getting the same results in their most recent defeat.
Jamie Carragher analysed their attack in Sunday night’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United sky sports Monday night football.
He found some adjustments in Liverpool’s front, with Andy Robertson pushing up on the left and Sadio Mane inside.

“Liverpool – it feels like they have an attacker,” Carragher said. “(Andy) Robertson himself screened the left wing, (Sadio) Mane was inside, very central. Curtis Jones was there to get ready to finish.
“Klopp’s arrangement – Robertson is your left winger, Mane is your striker, (Roberto) Firmino is your No. 10, (Mo) Salah is on the right, Jones has been awarded Permission to score more goals. All these players are in the box.
“Five behind the ball, five in front of the ball. Maybe it’s just a small adjustment. There’s a top five. Maybe it’s something Liverpool need to think about in the future.
“Klopp didn’t just add another attacking player, he just moved the players around him.”

This five-in-five structure is what all top teams do in some form or another.
It could be three backs and two ball handlers, which is what Liverpool’s midweek rivals Chelsea did.
Liverpool kept Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right along with two centre-backs and two retained midfielders.
It really worked for the Blades and could give opponents a new challenge in the upcoming games.
