The hypocrisy behind snubbing JK Rowling
π§πβ‘
At this point, the apology from either side doesn’t feel like they’re going to do too much, because JK Rowling’s human flesh search Now, her snub of the Harry Potter reunion amply proves that nowadays a person can’t have dissent without being pushed aside by the person they helped become a star. Think about it and then hopefully more people will realize that there would be no Harry Potter without Rowling, no franchise, no idea where people would stick around for years. A lot of people don’t want to hear this because they’ve come to one conclusion or the other about the author and her position on women’s rights and what has brought this debate to where it is now. The fact that the core cast of the franchise is turning to Rowling in public is not surprising, because if they don’t, they lose a lot of their reputation. Whether or not they believe what they’re preaching to others (and hopefully they do), the truth is that they wouldn’t be where they are now if it wasn’t for Rowling in terms of the status the HP franchise gave them.
Imagine if Martin or Tolkien were kicked out of the franchise they started after saying something people didn’t like. How much commotion will it cause? Imagine if Anne Rice (RIP) was excluded from any discussion of her book? In fact, while the madness was still circling like a fiery spark, Rowling spoke of her beliefs, just waiting for them to land and burn whoever got in their way. It’s no surprise to be snubbed by the reunion show, as there are quite a few people in Hollywood who are destined to cut, or at least weaken, ties to those who don’t feel the same way.
For her part, Rowling has often fought back and stood her ground, but saying those who benefit from the stories she creates are ungrateful doesn’t sound entirely fair, though it does sound accurate. In fact, Rowling’s situation is not bad, and miss reunion If it’s just because there are quite a few people in Hollywood who think her views are wrong, that could be a hidden blessing. Interestingly, those who preach tolerance, understanding, and acceptance seem to be yelling at those who are willing to have their say, while making sure their own opinion about those people is spread out loud and clear. This has been the case for years and shows no signs of stopping, as the hypocrisy of calling on people to express opinions that others dislike has only been brewing for a while. It’s been a while since Rowling made the comments that got people to pay attention to her, which unfortunately did get her in the spotlight, and it’s given her fame for a while. Sadly, those who don’t want to admit their hypocrisy are the ones who believe they are right, and the world is collectively nodding at the moment.
Fighting the trends driven by the #MeToo and TimesUp movements, and everything else that’s happened over the years, has gotten a little boring because too many people, celebrities and otherwise, have done what they can, say as much as possible, pushing their own ideas while trying to condemn the ideas of others. To this day, there are still many people who are willing to speak up for their beliefs and express their opinions, but many find that people they admire and hold different standards are bound to change sides on one thing, or another, or simply Go with the flow, when they find it convenient to do so. What’s really disturbing, whoever believes it, is that at some point, the “live, let’s live” approach is no longer followed by many and is even considered a bit outdated. On the positive side, Rowling has persevered and moved on despite any and all shadows in her direction, as many would have hoped. The downside is that many people are quick to condemn those who disagree with them. To make matters worse, those who disagree with the opinions of others often feel OK to discredit and disparage opinions they don’t like, and are more willing to damage the reputations of those who they believe are “hurting” others with their opinions.
