Tony Furnau recently won at the Northern Trust, beating Australia’s Cameron Smith in a single-hole playoff.
The American was 20 under, with three birdies and an eagle over five holes to lead him to victory on the final day.
Since his breakthrough victory in Puerto Rico in 2016, Finau has played in 142 races, finishing runner-up ten times.
Most recently, he represented Team USA at the Whistling Straits in the Ryder Cup.
The U.S. led 11-5 in 12 singles games on Sunday and needed just 3 1/2 points to win.
He encouraged his teammates not to give up against the Europeans.
“I don’t think it’s talked about enough in the Ryder Cup (but) sometimes your job, when you have such a healthy lead, (that’s) exhausting some great players.”

Is Tony Finau a Mormon?
Finau was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, his real name is Milton Pouha ‘Tony’ Finau.
His name comes from his Polynesian ancestry, and Tony Say “It is my honor to represent my people”.
The 31-year-old is a great golfer and exemplary family man who represents his beliefs and culture on the greens.
Tony Finau is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and is a Mormon, as is his wife, Alayna Galea’i-Finau.
