A new true crime documentary has landed on Netflix, and this time viewers have been taken to India — Delhi to be exact.
Revolving around the deaths of 11 members of the Bhatia family, House Of Secrets analyzes the evidence and possible theories that led to the hanging.
Audiences praised the three-part series, despite the gruesome diary narrative added to the gruesome details and gruesome case of the mass suicide.

Burari case: what happened?

Tomar was the first officer to enter the house on July 1, 2018, where he saw a horrific sight of 11 corpses, all members of the Bhatia family. Narayan Devi, 77, and her two sons, Bhavesh Singh and Lalit Singh, as well as their wife and children, were found dead.
Hanging from the ceiling, with his arms and legs tied and blindfolded, one glance at the crime scene knew it was a foul, but after examining Lalit’s diary, it seemed more likely that he had committed suicide by accident because of the occult.

Has the Burari case been resolved?
Police officials on the show concluded that Lalit Singh was the mastermind of the suicide. In 2007, he had been struggling with the death of his father, Bhopal Singh. Notes found at the crime scene confirmed that Lalit believed he was communicating with his father, who instructed him to perform bayan worship and the family would be saved.
The rest of the family blindly followed the 45-year-old to the ceremony. Members were asked to hang themselves for 15 minutes and survived when the water in the pot turned red.
Lalit was found to be schizophrenic and managed to bully his family because they saw positive life improvements after listening to him.
After the death of his father, Lalit it is said He has not spoken for a year and is believed to have lost his voice. He told his family that he had seen his father in a dream and he had asked him to recite prayers to restore his voice, which he did.
This marks the beginning of the end of the family, especially after this “advice”, the family’s financial situation has improved.
Netflix’s handling of Burari’s death
While it is well known that there is a mysterious reason behind the death, House of Secrets is about the way the case was hyped by the Indian media. Neighbors of the family claimed that some of the reported information was untrue.
The series also delves into the evidence, in particular the discovery of the significance of 11 to 11 diaries, and the discovery of 11 strangely installed pipes on the side of the house that match the formation of the suspended body.
Overall, House of Secrets sheds light on India’s mental health and shares mental illness while investigating the media frenzy that ensues.
