About Albrecht: German Poet and Writer (n/a – 1271)

Albrecht von Schaffenberg (Florida 1270s) was a Middle-High German poet, best known as Youth Daily (“The Younger Titurel”) Since his two other well-known works, Seyfried de Admon and Merlin, lost. Linguistic evidence suggests that he may have been from Bavaria, having worked in Thuringia or elsewhere in northern Germany.
Youth Daily Preserved in eleven complete manuscripts and about fifty fragments.It is a coherent continuation of Wolfram von Eschenbach’s 6,300+ line fragment Titureland builds on the love story of Sigune and Schionatulander found in his novels Patzival. This is “a saga that spreads all over the world and contains a large number of characters [and a] A message of Christian virtues. ”
Throughout the poem, Albrecht pretends to be the famous Wolfram, who for a long time modern scholars thought the latter was Youth Daily. Now recognize the seven verses – the so-called hinwestrofin (reference section) – Reveals that the author is not Wolfram and section 5883 even names him “Albrecht”.dating Youth Daily Tentative by the early 1270s, based mainly on fragments of a votive poem, the so-called Verfasser Fragment (Author’s snippet).
The late medieval writer Ulrich Feitler considered Albrecht to be one of the greatest German poets. He also noted that he was the author of two lost works. Youth Daily So popular that it was printed in Strasbourg in 1477. Most scholars follow Ulrich’s point of view, and often (wrongly) label it as Wolfram’s greatest achievement. In 1829, Karl Lachmann disparaged the poem while correcting its attribution. Its reputation remained low until the late twentieth century.
