About Albin Lermusiaux: French Athlete (1874-1940)
Albin Lemouche (August 9, 1874 – 1940) was a French athlete and shooter who participated in the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.
At the 1896 Summer Olympics, Le Mouchat competed in a total of four different races. He won the 800-meter preliminaries in 2:16.6. He dropped out of the final three days later, but decided to save his life in the marathon. The race took place the day after the 800m final. In the single-race 1500m, Le Mouchat was in the lead from the start, but was overtaken by Edwin Fleck and Arthur Black on the final straight to finish third.
On April 10, Lermusiaux joined 16 other runners in the marathon, the French had a 20km lead, but due to poor road conditions, heat and the uphill class runners starting to withdraw, Lermusiaux stumbled to a halt and was greeted by the waiter. of alcohol rub, and as he tried to recover, he quit at km 32, knowing he wouldn’t be done.
Lermusiaux also competed in military rifle shooting, and Lermusiaux’s position and score are unknown, but it is understood he did not finish in the top 13 of the 42-man competition.
Domestically, Lermusiaux was affiliated with the French Racing Club and won the French championship in the cross-country (1895) and 1500 meters (1896) and set the then European record of over 1500 meters (1895 4:18.4 and 1896 Year 4:10.4), 1 mile (1895 4:37.4) and 3000 meters (1895 9:22.4).
