Alberto Oremono Flores (1905-1980) was a Costa Rican physician and politician, first vice-president of the Second Republic of Costa Rica.
He was born in the province of Cartago, the son of Nicolas Aureamuno and Adelphia Flores. His father was Costa Rican Minister of State, President of the Central American Court and Supreme Court, and his brother, Jose Rafael Aureamuno Flores, was Costa Rica’s ambassador to the United States.
He attended the National Academy of Honduras, the University of Costa Rica, and Lafayette High School in Weston, Pennsylvania, USA. He later went to the Jefferson School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated summa cum laude in 1929, receiving the Best Examination Therapy Medal out of 122 students. He interned at Frankford Hospital in the same city.
In 1930, he returned to Costa Rica, where he worked as a doctor at the United Fruit Company, and then as deputy director of the Limon Hospital, the Almirante Hospital, and the Bible Clinic. He has also worked at Armoides Hospital in Panama, Piera Hospital in Honduras and San Juan de Dios Hospital in Costa Rica. He was also a member and deputy of the Limon City Council, and then served as the Vice-President of Costa Rica in the government of Otilio Ulate Blanco. He is also a professor at the Honduras Medical School.
