Erin Alyssa Miguel (November 26, 1910 – August 2, 1987) was a Canadian athlete who participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meters. She is also a painter.
Life
She was born and died in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She joined Dalhousie University’s track team. She is the Canadian record holder for 100- and 220-yard events.
In 1936, she was part of the Canadian relay team, winning a bronze medal in the 4x100m with her teammates Dorothy Brookshaw, Mildred Dolson and Hilda Cameron. In the 100-meter race, MiG was eliminated in the semifinals.
At the 1934 Empire Games, she won gold with Canada in the 220-110-220-110-yard relay and silver in the 110-220-110-yard relay. In the 220-yard event, she won a silver medal. Four years later, she was part of Team Canada, winning silver in the 110-220-110-yard relay and bronze in the 220-110-220-110-yard relay. In the 220-yard game, she finished fourth.
In 1935, she received the Velma Springstead Trophy, awarded annually to Canada’s outstanding female athlete. In 1965, she was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame. She is also a member of the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. In 2018, Meagher was named one of the 15 greatest athletes of all time in Nova Scotia, ranking eighth.
