Until Monday, a high school in Hudson, Ohio, was using the book in its senior college credit plus writing class.
However, at a school board meeting on Monday, several parents voiced their dissatisfaction with using the book to educate their children.
642 Things to Write About Controversial Interpretation
Among the 600+ prompts in the book, some are Hudson City Schools Superintendent Phil Herman describe as “inappropriate and offensive”.

A parent mentioned three of them during the meeting. “Write a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mom,” Ms Haven told the school board.
“Rewrite the sex scene above to read it by your mom. Use only verbs to describe your favorite body part of a man.”

Hudson Mayor Craig Schubert claimed that writing prompts amounted to “child pornography.” However, he did not provide any evidence to support this claim.

“So I’m going to give you an easy choice,” he threatened members of the school board. “Either choose to resign from this board of education or you will be prosecuted.”
No tips are assigned as part of the course. None of the school’s board members have announced plans to resign.

Twitter reacts to controversy over 642 things
Mayor Schubert’s speech received warm applause from the parents present. Twitter’s response, however, was typically disrespectful. One user described it as an “authoritarian cuckoo banana”.
No conceivable crime took place. The mayor is not a prosecutor. Not even prosecutors, leaving the studio audience to punctuate their ultimatum. It’s all just tyrannical cuckoo bananas, but clearly part of life in red America in 2021.
