Alcides Eduardo Mendes de Araujo Alves (born March 13, 1985), referred to as Alcidesis a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a right-back or centre-back.
club career
Born in São José Dorio Preto, São Paulo, Alcides is a product of the youth team of Sporting Club Vitoria of Salvador da Bahia. He had a short-term loan at Schalke 04 in Germany, when he was still Only teens. After a brief spell at his home country Santos, he returned to Europe the following season and signed with Portugal’s Benfica, who won the league seven times after an 11-year wait; Never represented Chelsea.
In January 2007, Alcides moved to Eindhoven and continued to work with former Benfica coach Ronald Koeman, who commented on him: “He [Alcides] An added boost to the defense, he can play in multiple positions at the guard. He was tall, thin, and extremely fast. On February 3, he played his first Eredivisie game for the club, against AZ Alkmaar.
