friends Gave us so many happy moments. When Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) isn’t creating classic originals, Monica’s obsession with cleaning goes too far. When the Gellers didn’t wow us with their fraternal goals, Gunther showed up to Rachel. When we’re not taking life lessons from Rachel, we’re going through Chandler Bing’s irony. During the show’s ten-season run, there’s been a lot of joy, but also some very downside moments, some of which you can barely get through. These times seem to balance life in some way and reflect the highs and lows of real life:
1. Rachel hasn’t found her magic beans yet
A visit from Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) posh friend reminds her of the life she abandoned. Suddenly, having a pajama party with girls doesn’t seem like a good idea. Rachel has been sullen, feeling like her life is fading and the future doesn’t seem bright anymore. “…Everyone I know is either married, or pregnant, or promoted, and I’m drinking coffee. And it’s not even for me!” she complained. Monica’s attempt to convince Rachel to do “this amazing independent thing” only ends up sending Rachel and Phoebe into a gloomy mood.According to Phoebe, Rachel didn’t find her Beanstalk, just like Jack from Jack and the BeanstalkSadness spreads throughout the evening as the three ladies order and Phoebe declares she doesn’t even have a “PLA”.
2. Monica feels overwhelmed by her breakup with Richard
The relationship between Monica and Richard has been great until Monica (Courteney Cox) brings up the topic of children. Monica wants to have a baby with Richard, but he only agrees “if I have to”. This quickly fueled the breakup. For three nights in a row, Monica hadn’t slept at all, which was very different from her. All around her are reminders of her ex-boyfriend; cigars, hair. “I’m tired of missing him. I’m tired of wondering why he didn’t call,” she told Rachel. To remind herself of Richard (Tom Selleck), Monica smokes his cigar and has been sitting on the sofa wearing Richard’s T-shirt. That was the perfect time for her father to show up. “I just want to make sure you’re okay,” Jack Geller (Elliot Gould) tells his daughter. He had obviously seen Richard, and the guy wasn’t doing too well. According to Jack, Richard’s performance was worse than when he broke up with Barbara.
3. Joey and Rachel struggle with unrequited love
Joey (Matt LeBlanc) is a womenswear mogul. Of the group, if three of them walked into a bar, he was the one most likely to get lucky. With his famous question, “How are you?”, Joey’s charisma is undeniable. However, he fell in love twice. Joey takes any girl seriously, it’s not like Joey, but when Rachel becomes his roommate, he can’t help it. Joey tries to convince himself it’s just a crush, but it’s not. He’s madly, deeply, and downright in love with his friend, and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t stop it from happening. It didn’t help that Rachel didn’t feel the same way at the time. Joey starts ranting when Gunther (James Michael Taylor) demands his order. He just wants the woman he loves to love him again. Things took a turn for the worse when Phoebe brought him a happy dog. Joey was so depressed that he turned the happiest dog in the world into a sad dog. “He’ll cheer you up,” Phoebe said, but the shock was on her.
4. Ross missed taking Rachel to the prom
Ross’ love for Rachel is undeniable. He fell in love with her when they were so young and never stopped. Given that Monica and Rachel are friends, it only makes sense for them to have their prom date at Ross’s (David Schwimmer) home. Rachel’s date, Chip (Dan Gauthier), is late, prompting Ross to take over. For Rose, that was the moment he’d been waiting for. He’s been dreaming about Rachel for a long time, and finally, he’ll be the one who takes her to the dance! Excited Ross put on his best black suit, grabbed a few flowers, and was about to walk down the stairs to meet Rachel when he saw her walk out of the house with Chip. Ross was devastated, and so were everyone else when they played the tape years later. Luckily for him, Rachel was in the room, and when she saw what happened that night, she walked up to Rose and lost herself in that moment. It took years, but Ross finally found the man of his dreams.
5. Chandler went through several stages to overcome Casey
Love triangles are not uncommon friends. Sometimes someone is staring at someone else’s girlfriend. Guys it happens a lot, but surprisingly Monica or Phoebe never. Rachel finds herself caught in the dark side of Ross, Joey, and Charlie (Aisha Taylor), and, in true Joey fashion, he once shared a relationship with Chandler (Matthew Perry). hobby. Chandler is initially interested in Casey (Paget Brewster), but when he finds out that Joey likes her too, he allows them to date. It turns out that both Joey and Casey knew how Chandler was feeling, and eventually, the two dated. They broke up because Chandler thought she was cheating and he had to go through several stages in order to get over her. The first phase of the breakup involved wearing sweatpants, for which Joey and Ross couldn’t do anything. Stage two, getting drunk and going to a strip club, was Joey’s favorite, and although he swore he would never miss it, he did and the girls took over. The third stage involves imagining yourself and other women naked, with the girls helping out. They were so helpful that they entered stage four where Chandler didn’t want to be in a relationship.
